Qualifications and units
The training package consists of the following three components:
1. Competency Standards
The units of competency define the range of knowledge and skills that employees need within the hairdressing industry, and set out the level of performance required and the means for measuring that performance.
If skills are only required in one particular area, training and assessment can be completed in one (or more) individual skill or units of competency from the training package. When competent in these skills a Statement of Attainment is issued, which provides national recognition of their skills, and often also provides credit toward a full qualification.

2. Assessment Guidelines
The Assessment Guidelines is the policy document which describes the hairdressing industry's system for assessment against the Competency Standards.

3. Qualifications
The Qualifications outline how the competency standards are 'packaged' into qualifications aligned to the Australian Qualifications Framework.
- Certificate II in Hairdressing
- Certificate III in Hairdressing
- Certificate IV in Hairdressing

- Vocational Graduate Certificate in Hairdressing Creative Leadership
