Floristry Continuous Improvement

Service Skills Australia is currently conducting a project for the continuous improvement of the WRF04 Floristry Training Package. The continuous improvement of this training package provides the opportunity for industry, training organisations, employers, employees and anyone else with an interest in this training package to be involved and provide input into the further skills and knowledge requirements of the floristry industry.

Thank you to all of the stakeholders who provided feedback during the updating of the floristry qualifications and units. The final draft is currently going through quality assurance to ensure equitable access of a final edited product.

The final drafts along with the case for endorsement will be available for your information on the Service Skills Australia website as the endorsement process progresses.

To discuss this project please contact Karen Banks on 02 8243 1200 or email kbanks@serviceskills.com.au

Background

Phase one

Phase one of the review involved research and analysis of the training package to evaluate its currency and relevance for industry and to address any barriers that inhibit their quality implementation. A report was developed based on the information received that includes recommendations on improvements to be made to the training package.

Phase two

In June 2008, Service Skills Australia commenced Phase two of the continuous improvement of the training package. The key tasks of Phase two include:

  • Revision of the training package based on the further exploration of the recommendations from Phase one
  • Development of strategies to address any identified impediments to the implementation of the training package
  • Documented validation of the revised training package

Training Package Reference Group

The first meeting of the Phase 2 Floristry Training Package Reference Group (TPRG) was held on Friday 27 June 2008. It is the role of the TRPG to:

  • Provide strategic oversight and guidance to project work to ensure it is managed effectively and ethically
  • Provide views and feedback on behalf of the sector/organisation they represent
  • Ensure that there is appropriate consultation with all relevant stakeholders
  • Support and facilitate communication and consultation with industry, including other members of their organisation, association members and other industry networks
  • Ensure that the project produces a high quality product that meets industry needs.

Membership for the TPRG is predominantly industry focused. However Service Skills Australia have acknowledged that a significant portion of the industry who are familiar with the training package are also sessional trainers.
